Traditional Stained Glass panel
A full-day workshop introducing this wonderful, traditional, craft, where you will make your own stunning stained glass panel for your home or garden.
If you have ever looked at traditional stained glass windows and wondered how they are made, this workshop is for you.
What will I be making?
You will make either a freestanding garden panel, or a square panel for your home. I will contact you in advance to find out which you would like to make, and it if is the square panel, what sort of design you would like. I will then prepare a pattern especially for you.
What does the day include?
During the day you will be:
- Choosing from a wide range of sheet glass to select the colours which best suit your pattern
- Cutting all the glass pieces for your design - accuracy is crucial but you will have lots of time to practice your glass cutting
- Cutting and shaping the lead to build your panel using traditional leading techniques
- Mastering the soldering iron to solder all the lead joints together
- Cementing your panel to make it stable and weatherproof
- Polishing your panel to a deep shine
How many people will be on the workshop?
This workshop is limited to 4 participants so you will have all the individual tuition you need to learn this new skill and create a panel you are really proud of.
What do I need to bring?
Drinks and biscuits are provided so you just need to bring a packed lunch.
You will need to wear old clothes, stout shoes or boots.
Who is the workshop suitable for?
You do not need to have any prior experience of working with glass to join this workshop.
